The group have been working very hard this year, some harder than others (sorry will do more next year!)

to produce an excellent brochure for our September ‘Open Studios’.

It has a fab map to navigate your journey, so you can visit artists around the Harborough area.  Each studio has different opening times, so dont make the mistake I made last weekend when I went to visit the Rutland Open Studios.  I chose a cluster in an area only to find half weren’t open that day, dhurrr!! The ones I did see I enjoyed.

HAC are all open on the middle weekend in September so you can avoid making the same mistake I made.

I also visited Uppinghams Goldmark Gallery which is a favourite of mine, the ceramic exhibitions are excellent, mostly stoneware/saltglazed/Japanese in flavour, very wabi sabi.  If you drop in around lunch time, you are usually invited for lunch too.  Lots of prints by famous artists so not to everyones taste or budget.  I bought my son a Chagall lithograph for his first birthday (original), from there years ago, oh, the days of a steady salary did have their perks! ok so he may have apreciated a teddy more.

Back to HAC, Heather Whareham and Lisa Timmerman have organised Harborough Art Windows to coincide with Open Studios.  Lots of shops have a piece of art from one of us in September, I’m in the florists, will share details closer to that date.  Thrilled that a deadline will spur my vase forms on.

We also have a new website www.harboroughartists.com again I am so grateful to be part of such a hardworking, organised and talented bunch.  We raise funds by sponsorship to be featured in the brochure and pay a small amount each, so no local authority involved or public funds.

Please bring your family along to see our work and studios and meet the artists, a free day out!!
